Position Summary

Bright Shadows Telepsychiatry Services is seeking a compassionate and experienced Child Therapist to provide mental health counseling services to children, adolescents, and families. The Child Therapist will deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions that support emotional regulation, behavioral development, family functioning, and overall mental wellness. This role involves collaboration with parents/guardians, psychiatric providers, schools, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure comprehensive treatment planning and continuity of care.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide individual therapy services to children and adolescents.

  • Conduct age-appropriate biopsychosocial and diagnostic assessments.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans addressing emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs.

  • Provide family therapy and parent coaching when clinically appropriate.

  • Utilize evidence-based treatment modalities such as:

    • Play Therapy

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

    • Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT)

    • Behavioral Therapy

    • Solution-Focused Therapy

  • Monitor treatment progress and modify interventions as needed.

  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention when required.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete clinical documentation within organizational standards (typically within 72 hours).

  • Maintain accurate treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.

  • Ensure documentation meets medical necessity and insurance requirements.

  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, ethical guidelines, and state licensing regulations.

Care Coordination

  • Collaborate with Psychiatrists, PMHNPs, Case Managers, Peer Support Specialists, and school personnel.

  • Communicate treatment recommendations with parents/guardians.

  • Provide referrals for additional services when appropriate.

  • Participate in clinical staff meetings and case consultations.

Telehealth & Patient Engagement

  • Provide therapy services via secure telehealth platforms and/or onsite sessions.

  • Maintain a professional and confidential therapeutic environment.

  • Implement engagement strategies to reduce no-shows and improve treatment adherence.

  • Maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries in virtual settings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field.

  • Active licensure or associate licensure in applicable state(s):

    • LPC / LPC-A

    • LCSW / LCSWA

    • LMFT / LMFTA

  • Experience providing therapy to children and adolescents.

  • Knowledge of child development and family systems.

  • Ability to obtain credentialing with insurance panels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Play Therapy certification or training.

  • Experience with trauma-informed care.

  • Experience working with ADHD, behavioral disorders, anxiety, depression, or autism spectrum concerns.

  • Experience in telehealth or outpatient behavioral health settings.

Compensation: $45.00 per hour
